2004 Road Trip, Part 7

July 29-August 2, 2004

Neshanic Station, NJ to Quebec

I had never been to Vermont, New Hampshire, or anyplace in New York other than Manhattan, so I decided to drive north to Albany and then cut over VT & NH on my way to Maine. I ended up spending a night in a fantastic campground outside Bennington, Vermont, where Shannon went to school, and had a nice time looking at stuff in the area. There are four covered bridges right around Bennington.
From Bennington, a gorgeous drive through New Hampshire and up the coast of Maine to a campground near Ellsworth (which is sort of the turning point to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, not to mention the home of the LL Bean outlet).
A lobster boat (I assume; it looked to me like they were setting and checking traps) and some pretty flowers in Acadia National Park.
A couple of photos of the old city of Quebec (the part that is inside the city walls), one taken from one of the walls, and one taken from my hotel room.
Quebec's citadel, and the city at dusk.

Shrimpy insisted that I was dragging him on a Forced Death March through Quebec City. By the time we walked back up the hill toward the hotel each walkies, he was moving about a mile an hour, and looking quite pathetic. It did get him a lot of attention, though (and I could practice saying, "il a fatigue," except I couldn't really remember whether you have tiredness or are tired in French). In this shot, he's hiding under the desk in the hotel room, in hopes I don't notice him and make him go out again.
