Provo and just about all the rest of Utah had temperatures in the hundreds, although I still hoped that it would cool off at night in Arches. I took a fairly quick drive on the way through Canyonlands, but the heat and the impossibility of taking Shrimpy on the trails made it somewhat less thrilling. |
| Here's Arches in the evening, on the way to the campground. Again, Shrimpy wasn't really allowed on the trails, and the heat was pretty impressive (oppressive). I did manage to go into Moab for dinner and a chance to cool down a little bit in the shade. I had planned to camp in Arches for two nights, but it didn't really cool down enough to make that fun, so I gave up the second night and headed to Flagstaff. | |

| A couple of photos of Devil's Garden in the morning. I camped quite near to this bizarre landscape. | |
Shrimpy and I trying to get a foot (or paw, if you will) in each state: Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. |
