2004 Road Trip, Part 3

Provo to Arches National Park

Provo and just about all the rest of Utah had temperatures in the hundreds, although I still hoped that it would cool off at night in Arches. I took a fairly quick drive on the way through Canyonlands, but the heat and the impossibility of taking Shrimpy on the trails made it somewhat less thrilling.
Here's Arches in the evening, on the way to the campground. Again, Shrimpy wasn't really allowed on the trails, and the heat was pretty impressive (oppressive). I did manage to go into Moab for dinner and a chance to cool down a little bit in the shade. I had planned to camp in Arches for two nights, but it didn't really cool down enough to make that fun, so I gave up the second night and headed to Flagstaff.
A couple of photos of Devil's Garden in the morning. I camped quite near to this bizarre landscape.

Shrimpy and I trying to get a foot (or paw, if you will) in each state: Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah.
